A Funeral in My Mind

When Time Catches Up

Michelle Manzo is an English major, class of 2013. Most of her paintings feature silhouettes images and skeletons. People often observe her work and ask why she paints skeletons, and she honestly never knows what to tell them. She simply says, "...They're just what comes out." One day someone asked her why she paints skeletons and her mother happened to overhear. Just as Michelle was about to answer, her mother interrupted and said, "Her pre-school teacher asked me the same question, and when I asked my 4-year-old daughter why she finger paints skeletons, she told me, "...Because everyone looks different Mommy...and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings." So now when she is asked why she paints so many skeletons, she just tells people that they're all she has ever really painted.
